Program accreditation
For colleges and training providers: how DOMAC accreditation works, and how to apply.
The national standard
What accreditation means
The Dental Office Managers Association of Canada is the national accrediting body for dental office administration education in Canada. Accreditation provides public notification that a program meets the standards of quality education set by the association.
Accreditation confirms that an educational facility is committed to self-assessment and external peer review in meeting or exceeding those standards, and to continuously finding new ways to enhance the quality of the education and training it provides.
The ultimate goal is to meet the evolving needs of the dental office administration professional: supporting quality healthcare decisions through quality health information management practices.
How it works
Evaluating programs against national standards
The association’s accreditation process is the means by which it evaluates formal educational programs for their suitability to prepare students to meet national standards and enter practice, across Canada, as certified professionals. Graduates of accredited programs are eligible to challenge the association’s national certification examination.
In relation to program accreditation, DOMAC works to:
- Implement continuous quality improvement in educational activities
- Develop and maintain dynamic learning content for program implementation and professional education that supports the advancement of professional standards
- Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure the continuous quality and effectiveness of formal programs
